MLK Celebration at Ramapo High School

Spring Valley, NY (Jan. 15, 2018) - The Brothers of Xi Lambda Lambda (Rockland Ques) chapter participated in the Martin Luther King celebration held at the Ramapo High School.  The event had many of Rockland County's organizations in attendance.

The event was sponsored by the East Ramapo Central School District and the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center.  The theme was "Our Community United in Love, Peace and Justice - Unity Celebration Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."

This event allowed Xi Lambda Lambda the opportunity to showcase to the community the many facets of who we are and what we do in the community.  The event was an opportunity to present information about our ROAD Mentoring Program to parents that had young males in either middle or high school.  The information provided was well received.

Singing Carols at the Pine Valley Nursing Home

Spring Valley, NY (Dec. 19, 2017) – The brothers of Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter (Rockland Ques) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity met in the lobby of the Pine Valley Nursing Home and Rehab Center for the purpose of spreading holiday joy.

The brothers performed Christmas Carols to the residents and staff of the nursing home.  In addition they presented the residents with items for their personal use.

Ms. Janice Shaw, a member of Delta Sigma Theta, was at the facility visiting her mother Mrs. Myrtle Raiferd, age 98, when she noticed the brothers gathering.  She followed upstairs to the dayroom and was impressed when the brothers began singing. She then asked if they could come to her mother's room and sing to her as well.  Her mother was so happy to see so many men in her room singing that it put a smile on her face, something that her daughter said she hasn't seen in a long time.

Many thanks to the brothers for giving their time for service to the community - Bros. Dennis McGloster, Tyrone Bailey, Nyron McLeish, Chris Sampson, Joe Parker, Basileus Antonio Desamours and T. Ed McBride Jr.
