Mt. Ivy, NY (August 16, 2020) - On August 16, 2020, The Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Inc. presented two $750 Scholarships to two Rockland County college bound youth.  

 The scholarship recipients submitted the winning essays on the topic
“How will the COVID-19 Pandemic and Social Distancing Impact Your College Experience?”.

Both high school honor students will attend four year colleges of their choice. The Scholarship Committee was led by Bro. Floyd Long and worked in collaboration with the Rockland Omega Development Fund (ROCDEF).

Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter makes donation to Nyack Center in Nyack, NY

Nyack, NY (May, 20, 2020) - The Rockland Ques (Basileus, Bro. Antonio Desamours) through their 501c3  tax-exempt arm, the Rockland Omega Community Development Foundation, Inc. (President, Bro. Dennis McGloster) aka ROCDEF, donated a $500 check to the Nyack Center in Nyack, New York to support their relief efforts in providing meals and groceries to the community during this pandemic.

We receive funds to lend this support from a Farmer’s Insurance COVID-19 grant given through one of the chapters brothers, Bro. Alex Vivien, an agent in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Xi Lambda Lambda contestant wins 1st Place in semi-classical instrument category

Dover, DE (Apr 27, 2019) -This year's Talent Hunt event was held at the MLK Student Center on the campus of Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. The Talent Hunt is a mandated program and was part of the Omega Psi Phi  Fraternity, Inc. 71st Second District Conference activities.

Mr. Craig Murray, who is a student at Horace Mann HS, won 1st place in the semi-classical instrumental category.  This was a feat that was also the 1st prize winner at Xi Lambda Lambda's 2019 Talent Hunt program held at at the Sullivan Theater on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) for his rendition of the classical piano piece of Chopin.

Also, kudos to Bro. Dennis McGloster and his team who put in many hours to make the Talent Hunt the success that it is every year.  Dennis is also at the District venues to help the contestant and their  parent(s) with transportation and hotel accommodations as well as assist in rehearsals.

Again, congratulations to Mr. Craig Murray - we expect to see you at Carnegie Hall in the near future.

Spring Valley, NY (Feb 26, 2019) - Brother Dennis V. McGloster was recognized and presented with the Dr. Edmund W. Gordon and Dr. Susan G. Gordon Community Service Award.  The event took place at the Spring Valley High School African American History Month Celebration Program. This award is sponsored by the CEJJES Institute and is presented to both a student and an adult for the contributions that they make to the Rockland County community.

Bro. McGloster is one of those brothers that works hard for Omega and equally hard for his community and is well deserving of this award.

2019 XLL Talent Hunt Winner Mr. Graig Murray

Sparkill, NY (Feb 23, 2019) –The Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter (Rockland Ques) held its annual Talent Hunt Competition on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Sullivan Theater on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC).  As always, the talent was very good and very competitive.  There

 Was a versatility of performers this year from drummers to classical pianists, to dancers and vocalists.

 Our 1^st place winner was Mr. Craig Murray (Horace Mann HS) for his classical piano playing of Chopin. In addition to winning a beautiful engraved trophy he will receive a check in the amount of $500 and will represent Xi Lambda Lambda chapter at the Second District Conference Talent Hunt Competition on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Delaware Hotel and Casino in Dover, Delaware. Second place went to Ms. Pauline Regalado (Ramapo HS) for dance (and Regalado was our winner last year) and Ms. Kimberly Martinez (Ramapo HS) was our 3^rd Place winner for her classical tune on the flute.

We would also like to thank our judges; Ms. Danelle Greene (Orangetown Schools Music teacher) Ms. Margaret Allen (owner and teacher at Allen Music School) and, Bro. Richard Clarke (formerly a jazz pianist who attended the famed Music & Art High School in NYC).

Xi Lambda Lambda 2018 Achievement Week Program

Nanuet, NY (Dec 8, 2018) -  Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., held its 2018 Achievement Week program at the Nanuet Library in Nanuet, NY. This event celebrated the achievements and contributions of outstanding individuals in the Rockland County, NY community. This year’s honorees were:

Mrs. Leslie Solan is Xi Lambda Lambda's
2018 Rockland Person of the Year

Each year the committee chooses a person who has demonstrated a commitment to the local community beyond the scope of their jobs. This year that honor went to Mrs. Leslie Solan as the 2018 Xi Lambda Lambda’s Rockland Person of the Year.  Mrs. Solan is the owner and principle designer of Leslie Solan Design a New York based interior design firm.  Her work has been published in Country Living Magazine, Rivertown Magazine and Houzz.

Mr. Andrew Delva, Educator and Football Coach, was selected as the 2018 Citizen of the Year for Xi Lambda Lambda chapter. Mr. Delva is a special education teacher at Spring Valley HS as well as the head football coach and head track coach.  He has mentored and guided many student athletes. Coach Delva has help over 100 student athlete’s move on to the college level of sports. He has also helped some receive athletic scholarships along with academic scholarships.

Bro. Fred Cabbell has been selected as the 2018 Omega Man of the Year for Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter. Brother Cabbell attended Florida A&M University also known as FAMU a HBCU. In June of 1980, he became a member of the Mighty Melodic Upsilon Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. After attending FAMU Bro. Cabbell became a member of the NY State Police in March of 1984.

Bro. Gerald H. Inman, Sr., is a life member and is the chairman of our ROAD program.  He is the recipient of the first ever Xi Lambda Lambda’s Perseverance Award for 2018.  Given the challenges that Bro. Inman is presently going through this award is very fitting.

Mr. Dylan Daccarett, a mentee in our ROAD program, a high school student was the winner of the 2018 Achievement Week Essay Contest. Mr. Daccarett essay response to the question, “Do you believe bullying is a real problem? If so, how would you discourage bullying in todays society?” The essay contest participants had to write a 700 to 750-word essay on the topic.
