Bro. Dr. Edmund Gordon Celebration

Columbia University, friends and colleagues will celebrate Bro. Dr. Edmund Gordon's 90th birthday with a day of events, luncheon and panel discussions of his work on June 17, 2011 at Teacher's College on the campus of Columbia University.  The event, "On His Shoulders We Stand", will feature a book signing, highlighting the publication of Dr. Gordon's three volume memoir , "On Pedagogical Imagination: A Conceptual Memoir".

Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter - Scholarship Awards

The Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter scholarship award ($250.00) was offered to each of four Rockland County high schools (Nyack, Spring Valley, Ramapo and North Rockland).  The awardees were chosen by the respective guidance offices of their high schools as follows:

The Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter will participate in the "Awards Night" of the various schools if there is an opportunity to speak wherein we will briefly describe our fraternity and present a certificate.  The actual award checks will be presented during the ROAD Annual Recognition Luncheon on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Finkelstein Memorial Library. 

In addition, the Chapter will recognize the achievement of graduating high school senior children of Chapter Brothers Byron Hurlock and Alfonso Morrell with the presentation of a $250.00 "Book Award".  The awardees are:

ROAD Mentoring Program - Annual Recognition Luncheon (June 4, 2011)

Please join us on Saturday, June 4, 2011, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM for our ROAD mentoring program at Finklestein Memorial Library.  The annual luncheon will feature two guest speakers: Malik Kirkland, a New York City police detective; and Clyde Cole, Director of Resident Learning for New Leaders for New Schools, a non-profit that trains principals in 12 urban school districts across the U.S.

Rockland Ques participate in "Best of the 757" - Football Combine

Bro. Floyd Long and Bro. Carl Jenkins participated in the Best of the 757 Football Combine at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia on Saturday, May 21, 2011.  The Best of the 757 series tested athletes in Nike SPARQ style combine events including the 40-yard dash, vertical leap, agility shuffle and powerball toss) followed  by a series of drills led by some of the area's top high school coaches from the Tidewater Virginia's top programs.

Adopt-A-Highway (Spring Valley, NY)

On May 14, 2011, the brothers of Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter cleaned-up a one-mile stretch of Route 59 in Spring Valley, New York that begins with Finkelstein Memorial Library and terminates near the Pathmark.

63rd Second District Conference Awards Received

Cherry Hill, NJ - May 3, 2011, The Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter would like to congratulate our Basileus - Bro. T. Ed McBride, who was named the Corridor 5 - Basileus of the Year at the 63rd Second District conference.  The chapter would also like to acknowledge and congratulate our Corridor Representative, Bro. Kevin Woodhouse - for being honored as the Corridor Representative of the Year.  In addition, the Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter would like to acknowledge Bro. Steve Schmidt as a Stand-in for founder, Frank Coleman, the Alpha Upsilon Chapter as the Achievement Week winner, the Sigma Beta Beta Chapter for Chapter of the Year, and to see the Talent Hunt contestants from Alpha Upsilon, Psi Lambda Lambda and Xi Phi Chapters take 1st Place in their respective categories.  We would also like to acknowledge and thank, Brianna Martin and Meagan Washington for representing Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter at the 63rd 2nd District Conference Talent Hunt competition on Saturday, April 30, 2011.



The Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter was the first recipient of the Rudolph W. Powell Creativity Award for Retention at the 63rd Second District conference.  The purpose of the award is to recognize those chapters that have created "substantive programs" that have a practical importance, value or effect upon the individual financial members of the chapter or their family members.  Initiated in January 2008, the Xi Lambda Lambda Book Award is held in honor of the Fraternity's mandated program of scholarship.  All chapter brothers that have been financial with the chapter for the current and previous year, and have a child that is graduating from high school will be granted with a $250 book award.  The award may be used for a four-year college, community college, technical or vocational school.   This scholarship program is intended to promote academic excellence among family members of Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter.  In the near future, the Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter will conduct an annual scholarship luncheon to provide financial assistance to deserving seniors from each of the local high schools in Rockland County, New York.  Students will be selected for their academic achievement and extracurricular activities.

ROAD Mentoring Program - May 7, 2011

Please join us on Saturday, May 7, 2011, 3:00PM - 6:00PM for our ROAD mentoring program at the CEJJIS Institute.  The brothers of the Xi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will be working in collaboration with the CEJJIS Institute and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa - Epsilon Chi Chapter for their Poetry and Reading Festival (A Coretta Scott King Book Club Event).
